Yep.

There’s enough grey area here to accept we need to wait for the trial for answers. I know the uncertainty is hard, and we want to crack it. I just don’t think it’s possible. We keep arguing because it is murky.

It's an aggressive negotiating tactic. That's legal. And the solution if you don't want to deal with it is (1) make sure people sign contracts before you get into a project with them that will suffer if they leave, or (2) be willing to take a loss and move on.

The answer is not to engage in inappropriate and harassing behavior on set and then plot to destroy her reputation online. I get why you might want to do that but it's illegal. Whereas just being really challenging during contract negotiations is not illegal. It's business.

It may not be illegal, but she violated several guilds and definitely put the film at risk for being shut down and compliance investigations.

I guess I just don’t really see the difference, she continually created a very unstable and stressful environment. You could argue a lot of things Heath and Baldoni did weren’t illegal. Showing someone a birthing video is uncomfortable, but not illegal accidentally catching a look when a mom is breast-feeding when you’re in a meeting is uncomfortable, but not illegal.

They both created a really uncomfortable environment on set and showed a pattern of disturbing behavior.

So how is what Blake is doing with the CIA guy not a smear campaign?

These people just need to stop it. I get it’s fun to destroy the other person, but neither one of them is looking good here. I’m trying to see both sides of the situation, and even though I can see where Blake was coming from, it’s not like I like her more now or am more motivated to see her movies. She’s pretty much dead to me as a celebrity and I think she’s crazy, whether she experienced sexual harassment or not.

You fundamentally do not understand the legal issues here.

Sigh. Whether it’s legal or not, my point was it’s not helping her. The legal issues in this are only one layer of it. There’s tons of other things of interest, including public relations, trying to control the narrative, how powerful in Hollywood people leverage their power.

We are certainly allowed to discuss more than the legal issues in this case.

Most of us have stopped arguing but don’t think it’s murky at all. There was no sexual harassment and no retaliation.

Apparently there is some kind of lock down on Blake’s name making it virtually impossible to post about her on TikTok or YouTube. Can’t imagine how much they are making the new PR firm.

See that kind of thing is just so stupid because it is so so easy to get around that.

Then it just causes more news and more outrage.

It’s not actually a great character trait to have a verdict before a trial.

Sometimes the public evidence is overwhelming. Also most of what she alleges isn’t sexual harassment even if true. But after months of this, I have no desire to play ring around the rosy with you again today,

DP but just wanted to say I agree. And agree with the prior post that most of this is way to shades-of-gray to draw firm conclusions on at this point.

And Ari is making podcasts disappear where he brags about retaliating against and blackballing Justin for Blake and Ryan.

And Ryan goes on SNL and cracks a joke about his wife’s alleged horrific sexual harassment. These people are all egomaniac slime.

Sounds like racketeering.

Absolutely my first impression was it was planted by her team, with mostly stuff I knew being repackaged (Freedman representing Flores was a revelation though). I give her PR team props for being much more professional. The NYT and LA Times articles are well sourced and written and speak to relevant qualities of Baldoni. Much better than the Reddit and TikTok garbage and pushing the same tired narratives about Weinstein, baby bump interview, plantation wedding etc. The kind of stuff that is there to make you dislike her in general but isn't really relevant to her claims and just makes you dismissive personally.

Now I know someone will call me a Blake shill for that. I'm not. I would love to read a well written expose on her along those lines, like with actual examples of her being unprofessional and trying to take credit for things she hasn't done. That would be relevant to her tactics of taking over the movie and I'd be interested to know if she's pulled those tricks before in a real article, by a journalist, even understanding they can be biased. Just as I don't like reading nastiness about her being a middle aged big woman with a gay husband and would similarly not want to read digs at Baldoni’s nose and sex life (and I have defended him when people bring up his religion).
