Am I happy for the MD girls, too? 1000%. Everyone has been celebrating these girls’ achievements. Share a prior comment on this thread from a “Cap cheerleader” that comes remotely close to what hush-puppy-guy wrote. | One thing of note….just glancing at it. All these girls go to private school. Seems like you really can’t be recruited to a top program from public schools. Kind of a shame and not great for the growth of the game. |

No one really cares about the growth of the game. The system is set up to help get private school kids into top colleges and the system works as it was designed to work. |

| It’s easier for college coaches to get approval for verbally committing players from private schools where an academic pre-read is part of the process. These colleges are familiar with many of the private schools and often know the level of academic rigor. Public school grades are less reliable - its not as easy for colleges to know what a grade from a public means, if it’s a good high school with high standards. |

| A quick look at Yale, Penn, Harvard rosters, and you do see a fair amount of public school players. They do tend to come from affluent areas like Darien, New Canaan, Ridgewood, Summit, or strong lax areas like Long Island or upstate New York. Maryland has strong public’s as well like Severna Park. Locally, McLean, Langley, have players on those Ivy rosters. It seems the common thread is affluence. |

Concur. I am a parent of an unsigned 26 and its helpful for our process to know what is going on with other girls. Not to mention we know many of these girls and their families and have played with them since elementary school so its nice to see where everyone lands. I am truly happy for the girls who are committing. I can assure you that any parents on here flexing are not the parents of these top recruits. |

Keep in mind, areas like Long Island don’t have the same private school emphasis like D.C. or Baltimore. Most kids go to their local pubic school as these schools are usually very good at lacrosse. |
