GDS doesn't officially give or calculate GPAs, so they aren't going to share a median gpa. As part of the college counseling process, they give suggestions of what level of selectively a student is competitive for.

Even that would be helpful. Like how selective is a 3.5, 3.8, 3.3, etc. Just need some kind of deciphering.

They will tell you that -- individually and not until junior year. Until then, just encourage your kid to try their best. How would getting this information when your kid is in 9th grade help you?

Some reports in the college forum that a 3.5 kid has no chance at T20 or maybe even T50. So I wondered whether a GDS 3.5 is viewed differently. Just don’t want to be surprised down the line.

Assume not and then be pleasantly surprised if it is. You don't need to plan where your 9th grader is applying to college.

This attitude, I suspect, is exactly why they don't share the information before the college counseling process begins.

It is unusual to get all As at GDS.

Yes 4.33 for A+. GDS does not weight in their internal calc for UL classes. So this is unweighted where A+ is 4.33 and for students who graduated 2021-2025

Wow - those are high grades esp for Michigan and Wis. are small colleges better? That’s where schools seem to understand gds rigor a little more

Agreed but these are the numbers directly from their tracking system that they show parents during 12th grade college process...As I learned after our first kid went through, the process sucks and lower your expectations.

Maybe a lot of top students use Wisconsin as a safety? These are those admitted not attending, so someone could get in and go to a better school but the average attending GPA could be lower.

I know Sidwell, the Cathedral Schools and perhaps now GDS are more parsimonious with As. It seems that colleges are aware of this. Is it possible to be unhooked and get into a T20 school with a 3.5 gpa and strong test scores from one of these schools?

Those slots will go private and public school students with better numbers.
