The other day I was at a pizza restaurant and the hostess was wearing a jean skirt so short she would not be able to bend over without exposing herself.

OMG shut up.

What in the world is wrong with you?

OP ignore this garbage.

WOW!!!! I see some of the suits these people are recommending like $60. I am more of a fan of covering up a bit.

We went with this type of tankini. $30 and comes with bottoms.... it has a shelf bra with removable padding. We bought like 3 of these. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YFNSMB7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1

These are good options too https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B091CQJ8XY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I am so confused. You first posted really frumpy tankinis and then suggested Justice (which is more appropriate for 8 year olds). Nope to all of these.

Look at Jolyn or Athleta.

+1 Those first choices are appropriate for a matronly mom who wants to be sure no one sees her post-baby belly shelf. Nothing wrong with it, but why would a teen choose it.

Also +1 to Athleta. My similarly built teen likes their half-takinis (more coverage than a bikini, less than a tank) with boy shorts. The boy shorts are so she doesn't have to bother shaving her bikini line, not for modesty.

Cute!

As cute as Shein might be - the sizing is all over the place and the quality poor. My daughter begged last year for a bathing suit from there (I think they are frequently highlighted on teen sites) and I made her agree that if they did not fit we would never purchase again from that (or any sister sites). Best money ever spent! The suits were inexpensive, sizing was way off - and I never need to have the conversation again - or at least for this year

This is cute with side cutouts.

This is too babyish for most 14 yos.

Jolyn for sure, although their sizing is frustrating. Definitely filter by cut.

Lands end.

She can choose the top she likes and the bottom she likes and customize her own suit.

Bra like swimsuits that have a little more coverage than a bikini:https://www.target.com/c/bra-sized-swimwear-swimsuits-women-s-clothing/-/N-s6y8p

"active" swimsuits have a little more coverage, and she would be less likely to fall out of them. Some frumpy ones, but some decent and fun too:

SOmething like this:https://www.target.com/p/juniors-ribbed-side-cinch-one-piece-swimsuit-xhilaration/-/A-80413954?preselect=80332254#lnk=sametab

I like stuff from Athleta. It looks nice, a bit on the sporty side, and they have lots of modest options.

I don't think it is super weird. 14 is middle school age, and kids in middle school can be really brutal/hurtful/unthinking. I would def want to consider what kind of shape my kid was in at that age before encouraging a bikini. No need to set them up.

I encourage my slightly chubby daughter to wear one. She’s with family anyway. It’s good for confidence!

My friend does this with her very chubby daughter and I think it’s a mistake. But I keep it to myself.
