Smart kid wants a party/sports school (ugh)- Penn State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, U Florida?

University of Kansas honors program. Check out their automatic out of state scholarships. Read about in the Fiske guide.

not OP but note they said high 1300s, not 1300. But not sure that will make a difference. My kid scored 1380, but didn't submit it when doing applications as he felt it didn't reflect his capabilities (did better on pre-SAT). Still got into Wisconsin. But this past year has been a crazy admission season. Who knows?

I'm not sure Wisconsin as #1 US Party school is really the best fit for him, but figure it is a big school and he is likely to find his people. He has requested a dorm that are NOT considered a loud party dorm. Perhaps your kid will do the same. Fingers crossed, but also knowing transferring out is always an option!

UofF
UofAriz
Marquette
Not sure if he's competitive with those scores, but those are all good schools for STEM. Weather is obviously different between the three!

Marquette?

It is a smaller parochial school in Milwaukee. Not a big state school.

Marquette is not attached to a parish. It is Catholic but not parochial.

It still isn't a state school with a lot of school spirit.

It's not a state school, but basketball is huge and there is a lot of school spirit.

How's that football team?

They have come down in the rankings. When I was there, they had an asterisk that they didn't rank professionals.

Just because it is a party school doesn't mean EVERYONE parties all of the time. There are a lot of very serious students there and they all work hard. The town and the college spirit because of the sports are second to none.

What ranking are you referring to? Wisconsin as #1 party school? I'd love to hear more? What's this about not ranking professionals? So if you do rank professional schools, then Wisconsin isn't a big party school? But if you do t is? IT seem implausible (we didn't tour any colleges, so we are flying blind about these decisions!) that Wisconsin parties more than, say, Tulane.

+1 would love my kid to apply to Baylor. Has everything, perfect size. I do think it is less hard core partiers than OP is describing (which would be good thing).

Wisconsin is the best academically of the schools listed, but 1300 may still be tough to gain admission.

My 33 ACT big 3 kid was WL at Wisconsin this year.

Omg, you are s**ting me? Hope your kid got into better school. Wow. From Big 3, I would have thought a 28 would get you into Wisconsin. Crazy.

OP don’t listen to people who are cutting down your kids SAT. Mine had a 1370 3.9 UW and was accepted to UF this year, as well as UMD Scholars, UDEL Honors, VTECH etc.

There are no non-stop flights from DC to CID.

Baylor offers a lot of positive attributes and the alumni networking is fantastic.

Excellent for hyper-religious weirdos.

And pearl clutcher #1 has already shown up. DCUM never fails to disappoint.

Read their website. Jesus everywhere. Weird.
