It’s actually not. The only pro leagues in America is MLS, USL Championship, and USL 1. Everything else is semi pro; USL 2, NISA, UPSL, and NPSL. The reason college kids can come back and play and not lose eligibility is because they don’t except pay — not that most teams have a ton of money at all. But there are definitely players trying to make it in USL 2 who may earn $200-$800 a month. |
Then it is not professional. Even the lowest level minor leaguers in baseball get paid. Not much, but something. |
