Is it rude to tell your neighbor to wash their dirty car?

Neighbor and I share a driveway they have a white van they don’t drive that is filthy. I wish I could tell them to wash it. People are so sensitive.

Was he trying to seduce you?

Next time OP, just say "thanks. Not a priority for me right now" and let it go

Sitting here being mad about the neighbor's dirty van, kinda sounds like they aren't the sensitive party here.

I don't think the guy meant any harm by it. It was just small talk.

Then he came over to talk to us and told us about a car-wash place several blocks away. He even said it would be cheaper for a sedan car like ours (because he drove a SUV) and then our car would be shiny again.

I got pretty annoyed by it because it is not his place, but I'm even more upset because I said nothing back other than okay, good to know. My husband doesn't care because he thinks it bothers our neighbor more than us, so we don't need to get upset. Am I too sensitive? We are not even that close with that neighbor. I just need to vent it out.

Yes. It is very rude and I would not wash car for a couple weeks to drive him bonkers.

+1

He didn’t tell you to wash your car. You are most likely going to wash your car, right? He was trying to be helpful.

You’re an example of why people can’t and don’t socialize anymore. You’re so overly sensitive and take offense to everything.

I bet OP has washed their car since this was posted however many years ago.

It's a zombie thread friends. OP posted in Feb 2021...

I think it would be rude to tell your neighbor to wash your car. However, from the description of the events, it doesn’t sound like that’s what he’s doing. Maybe thought he was being helpful but it came across a bit awkwardly, but I don’t see where he told you to wash your car.

I haven’t washed my car since 2021 and I hope OP hasn’t either, just to bother the neighbor!

Our neighbor actually washed our car once, now that was pretty awkward!

Dang it! I applaud folks like you for paying attention to the date. I should be better about it before commenting.

I’m guessing OP has already washed her car in the 4 years since she posted.
