Good luck with flute, if you want to be pedantic |
?? What do you mean? No flutes in Orchestra either. That’s the whole point. You can easily bring back Orchestra and the kids can participate safely. Band and chorus are obviously not options. But Orchestra should have been able to resume ages ago. Especially something like Honors Orchestra, which is completely optional and parents are required to provide transportation. |

Hello OP, we moved from out of State a while back. We have both HS and MS kids. If you are thinking of buying a house I would really skip ahead and do all the work on the high schools and get that right, rather than focus on MS with orchestra, or even MS in general. I would also consider the commute in your decision making.
There are plenty of opportunities for orchestra outside of school (I have two playing the violin). Good luck, and brace yourself as the school system is not what you will be used to, but the lower taxes will be a nice change. |
DP. I like being pedantic, actually, but I am baffled by your post. Orchestras in MCPS are string orchestras. No flutes (or tubas). |
Lol! Not for long. There will be some major tax increases coming to support all the lost revenue. But, maybe that’s for another thread.

Yeah, I didn’t understand either of the two PPs. There are no flutes or tubas in an MCPS orchestra. Really not sure what the PP is trying to say. |
Mcps isn’t going to bring back some music and not others. “Not fair.” Or are you new to the county? |
Really? According to DCUM, some kids in MCPS are going to be in classrooms being taught by teachers, while other kids are going to be in classrooms doing DL over Zoom. That seems not fair to me, and yet DCUM keeps insisting that will happen. |
