APS: Why Ignoring CDC Recommendations for Cohorts for Middle and High School?

Anonymous
I can’t believe APS will open middle and high school based on what’s happening in Europe. We are about a month or two behind them. You can’t send the kids 10+ most susceptible to the virus into school with maximum exposure to others. None of these studies contemplate mixing up with 50, 60, 70 kids per week in indoor space.

My kids' school formed cohorts based on the core classes. They could pretty easily find 20 kids in the same level of math, English, history, and science. Then, kids would do many of their electives online in their classroom. For the electives that can't be done online, they would switch classes for them. Most kids would have only one class switch per day, so the hallways would be less crowded and the risk is still minimized.

Yep this is the type of planning that could have happened this summer. Instead, loft to principals to plan without regard to cohorts or elections. And the school board DID NOTHING to question or intervene in these decisions. They need to resign or be recalled.
