Gamestop

some reddit folks will lose some for sure, most are just in there with fun money they can afford to lose. there will be plenty of knuckleheads that write calls without fully understanding the risk and get killed too

but they're going to kill several overextended hedge funds along the way.

share price is already sitting over the highest strike price available for calls expiring this week.

When do you all think the top will be in? Tomorrow is options expiration. Will that burst this bubble? Would like to buy some long-dated Puts and the closer to the high the stock is when i do that, the better..

Tomorrow will be the top for sure

People underestimate how angry WSB investors are. The media and WS has kicked the wrong hornet's nest this time. People are out of work and po'ed about the extreme wealth inequality. Many are unloading on GameStop because they see it as a way to make huge amounts of money sticking it to the same people, who for years, have rigged the system to benefit themselves and who are increasingly controlling more and more of the wealth.

WSB is literally the greatest instrument every invented for wealth re-distribution from the wealthy elitists to the middle class who have been trampled on for too long. There many people who don't care about the money at all but more about winning against the fat cats. Even if they lose it all, what's a couple of hundred or a few thousand o most of those investors? They're still middle class. But if they win sticking it to the financial elitists, they can gain life altering money.

That's what you don't understand. An entire ride or die, eat the rich, f 'em all attitude of insane tenacity that is now empowered and running roughshod over the elitists.

Yes, some would rather lose a few thousands just to bring down an arrogant hedge fund.

I hate short sellers.

Anonymous wrote:Could some explain in simple terms what is happening here? I've read several articles and at some point in each one I just end up lost. I just invest in mutual funds, for the long term. I'm not interested in trying to get in on this because I don't know enough to have a chance at making money. I'm just curious what is going on. I understand buying options is buying the right (but not the obligation) to buy stock at a certain price or on a certain date. But from there I get lost. Thank you to any kind soul willing to educate me a bit.

Or is that bet that, if enough of them agree to stay in (not cash out), then the value stays up? That's the part I'm not following.

Yes, now you see the idiocy in this entire thread.

No. This is a very sophomoric explanation.

Hedge fund a-holes shorted the stock ... they only make money if it goes down and they expect it to go down. They “promise” to buy it, they plan to buy it low.

The Reddit geeks bought the stock and drove up the stock. The hedge fund a-holes had to buy high, geeks sold off to hedge fund a-holes.

It is the only wealth transfer so far, from billionaires to middle class.

The redditors *know* the risk completely. This isn’t a bubble. This is an attack. Or, if it’s a bubble, it’s fueled by the opposite of irrational exuberance.

It’s funny how this WSB came to light this week but in the past these guys only talked about 3 stocks and how much money they lost
