BLM was a hate crime because it was racially motivated.

I realize that this may be beyond your intellectual capacity to comprehend, but the issue is who owns the flag. If the Proud Boys had burned their own BLM flag, there wouldn’t be an issue. But since they stole and then destroyed someone else’s flag, they are being changed with destruction of property. The samee would be true if someone stole an American flag. Funny that you ignored the sanctity of private property in your rush to “whatabout”.
