What percentage of the population do you think has a trust fund?

I think very few people have trust funds- but those who do are concentrated in certain neighborhoods/circles so it’s easy to get a skewed perspective.

A much larger number of adults (though still a small percentage of the population) get significant financial help from family: down payments, private school tuition for grandparents, funding of vacations/renovations and other extras. These people are concentrated in certain neighborhoods/circles so again, it is easy to get a skewed perspective.

On the whole, it is much more common for help to go the other way (IMO)- adult children helping older family members financially.

You and your sister are both morons.

DH has a trust fund.

I know numerous families at school (private) who at least one of the spouses has a trust of some kind.

A colleague of mine married a woman whose family owns a 300 or 400 year old plantation style home and several thousand acres somewhere in Eastern Va/Tidewater area.

I know he makes about 130K and his wife is 'home with the kids'. All thee kids attend privates, they take ridiculous vacations- rent a house for a month in Normandy type stuff, drive $75,000 cars, live in a 1.5 million dollar house, have a beach house in Lewes, etc.

They are very nice people and volunteer at the schools and community etc but I can't help thinking all that wealth was earned on the backs of slaves her family undoubtedly owned.

Slave money. How delightful.

My husband had a "trust fund" but in today's language it would basically be a 529 account funded by grandparents. It covered not quite all of his 4 years.
