It sounds like her job is to begin separating the wheat from the shaft. You may be the consumer,; but they are in charge.

This separating the wheat from the shaft I would think is quite easy: here is a bunch of wheat lying around; here are big steel shafts lying around. Just move all the wheat away. The shafts are prob heavy. Leave them where they are. QED. This instructor is obviously making it all too hard and being too tough.

The saying is what from CHAFF, not shaft.

Did you not get that the post was joking. Separating the wheat from the shaft, indeed.

I have had two kids through the school and have direct experience with both teachers mentioned in this thread. We have had nothing but positive experiences with both. I understand others may have had different experiences but these issues should be taken up directly with the school administration. It makes me quite uncomfortable that these teachers have been called out so publicly when they are trying to do their jobs, particularly when ballet jobs are scarce and opportunities are even more limited due to the pandemic. In my experience, the curriculum and expectations for turnout, holds, etc. are set by level by the administration and not by the individual teachers.

It’s terrible that the implication is that if a parent raises an issue, it’s taken out on a student. And parents are ok with this because?

Except that doesn't happen. Parents say they are worried it can happen. No one has any proof that it does. Oh, except me. I went to them about a problem teacher (not one mentioned on this post. The teachers mentioned here are WONDERFUL. I have no idea what they are talking about) and nothing was taken out on my daughter. They were receptive and open to feedback. The issue here is that people would rather call out a teacher publicly than fix the problem. If they are so worried about saying something that shows you how little of an issue it is.
