| They look good on paper but the reality is different. Make sure you tour in person and ask lots of questions. I heard they can’t get licensed because they aren’t up to state standards. |
We are pulling our child out of the lower school this year. They are not offering anything promised and I can't believe how much money we have wasted on this subpar program. My kid likes his friends but he's not getting any of the supports that are supposedly built into the curriculum. |
I am so sorry to hear that. Can I ask which campus? We are considering Auburn SS but unsure based on the feedback we have seen |

To the PP, my suggestion would be to visit and ask all the tough questions. I would not base my decision on what you read on an anonymous board. This is good info to have, but you have to go and see what you think.
For fairfax, I am sure that the school is licensed. Yes, the school did see a decline during the pandemic, but so did some other SN private schools. Fairfax is trying its best to come back strong. It still has a lot of pluses. Their social skills program is very strong. So is their PE. Some teachers are better than others, but that goes for all SN schools. You won’t get the same quality in each classroom. |
| Same quality every year |
Thanks. We have visited and asked the tough questions, but those types of answers can be practiced. Knowing what’s happening behind closed doors is super helpful. |
| What was your feeling when you visited? What were the red flags? What about the other schools you are considering? Weigh the pros and cons for each. We’ve been to a couple of SN private schools in this area and none is perfect. That’s unfortunate, but you make the decision on what would be most helpful to your child at that given year/years. |
We are a parent of a child at Auburn Fairfax. You would be better off leaving your child in a window-less basement, than sending them to Auburn. Full Bloom (parent) is utterly corrupt and disinterested in anything to do with the business, other than collecting tuition. We had 3 report cards this year - 2 were missing half the subjects and they didn't notice. The third has weird descriptions of classes with no information about students and awful grammar. Some of the teachers are unstable - others are unprofessional and uneducated to such an alarming degree, I can't believe they haven't been shut down. I hear Fairfax pulled their accreditation (don't know if that's true) and that they are closing the high school (don't know if that's true). But I wouldn't bother. |
I can't believe this...we also got a report card where grades were missing, information was incomplete and the comments were copied and pasted from one subject to another! I also don't disagree with the windowless basement comment...my DC who was behind in academic skills post-pandemic is now even further behind and we are $42K in the hole |
| We had an "info session" with the Admissions staff. It took multiple calls to get a response. The meeting.we had was more of her interrogating us as to whether our child had antisocial tendencies than any type of info session. Literally the first question asked was what drugs DC is on; the staff then asked how to spell a common ADHD med. We tried several times to get basic info about the school, but she wasn't able to tell us much. |
