would you move from AU to Woodley for Oyster?

To follow-up on an older post, I went to Oyster and Eaton Open Houses as well, in addition on all the other top-rated DCPS School Open Houses. Oyster was by far the worst open house- no organization and no parent volunteers. That being said, I found the principal impressive. She seemed intelligent, thoughtful, and calm.

The teachers at Oyster (in our very brief observations that are possible on a tour) seemed to very hit or miss. Several seemed very inexperienced. I have since heard other parents echo that concern.

I agree with the hit or miss in teachers. I am happy with my child's current teacher, but am nervous about the options for next year and the year beyond.

To 15:13: the principal does appear to be impressive and calm. Unfortunately, who is responsible for the overall impression of an open house? It speaks to a lack of meaningful engagement with the parents and staff. Hopefully the new AP hire will step in and help to build a community amongst all grades and parents.
