Parents of vegetarian/vegan kids: Have they been positively/negatively affected?

DH and I are vegetarian. I mainly cook vegetarian meals at home, but my kids like meat. Sometimes I make something with meat for them. When we are at a restaurant or over friends’ houses, they eat what appeals to them.

My husband and I enjoy the natural benefits of smoking/ consuming weed. We encourage our kids to have it in brownies. They can decide for themselves when they are older whether to continue or not.

You see, parents raise their children with *their* values, not yours. DH and I are vegetarian, and so are our kids.

Once they were about 4 we noticed significant behavioral issues arising- not listening, aggressive behavior, etc. all our kids have been very skinny, not quite enough to for the Doctor to be concerned, but different form what I was like as a kid.

Now we have introduced yoghurt/ cheese and am looking at adding meat on a limited basis. We tried so hard to feed them healthy vegan food, but now I feel so guilty that we basically starved them. Recently got them tested and the Dr confirmed very low levels of vitamin D, magnesium and iron.

As an adult I will stay vegan. But I really regret trying to raise Vegan kids.

And you felt the need to bump this old thread for this? Yeah I totally believe your story.

I met a farmer once who told me she was raised vegan and in her 20-30s her health started failing drastically because she was so malnourished. She became a livestock farmer and now sells beef, lamb and eggs. They are ethically raised and totally organic animals.

You do not become malnourished from eating vegan. You become malnourished from eating improperly.

Look at all the meat eaters who are obese. I'm gonna bet 99% of obese people are meat eaters. Yes, that affects children horribly.
