Choosing a school strictly on soccer does not seem smart

Who said they were doing that?

Just genuinely curious the benefits of a high pressure situation. Obviously also get the financial benefits of a scholarship but let’s face it we can all afford to send our kids to good schools if we live in this area.

Its not all about the scholarship. It can get your child into a school that would be a crapshoot otherwise. And no not everyone can afford ''good schools'' upfront.

The chance to play at an average school academically with little or no money or attend a highly ranked school that checks all the boxes and not play?

actually an ''average school academically'' will have a lot of merit aid for academics.

Does DD ask if financial aid is available or Do you wait until it is offered? DD has been speaking to a school but is nervous to talk about money.

Why ask about money before an offer is made?

The kids are excited. What kind of moron are you? Everyone has their personal decision matrix. Some kids may choose to not play at all if they can go to their dream school. But the potential to play soccer in college offers different opportnities that kids are more than excited to explore.

Kids do not get the interest my 2022 DD is getting without being self-motivated. And no one would consider some of the schools showing interest in her to be academically lesser. Sour grapes it all you want, sometimes things actually work out well.

List the schools.

DP, but I hope everyone who has a child going through the recruiting process knows what a bad idea it is to post anything about their kids’ status or contacts with coaches on social media (even anonymously). It’s best to wait until the NLI is signed.

PP financial aid is separate and has nothing to do with athletics. It is important to ask about FA if the recruit is expected to apply ED. I don’t think you can get both FA and an athletic scholarship at non-ivy D1 schools.

How many 2022 girls are actually actively talking to coaches right now? Versus using the coming year to get noticed?

A bit of both.

If they are hearing from them now, they have to realize the coaches are probably talking to a lot of others and by the time signing day comes along that offer or interest probably won't be there.

pick 2 of the 3 academics, sports, or social life, all 3 don't exist in high profile programs. that was what the penn state wrestling coach told us. he was so right.

Yes!!

My brother chose all 3 and it took him 7 years to get a undergrad degree

As a STEM major that would have classes in the morning and 2-4 hour Organic Chem, Microbiology, etc labs in the afternoon, I did not pick soccer.
