Residents of Montgomery County |
In this case it’s more than simply a failure to summarize, it’s a blatant contradiction. |
I'm a resident of Montgomery County. I don't share this opinion. |
| So you think it is OK for Elrich’s press statements to be inconsistent with the EOs? Interesting position. |
|
I fundamentally have no clue why Elrich is not only having MoCo go more slowly than the rest of the state, but he’s changing what’s in each phase.
He says he is “largely mirroring” what Hogan is doing, but it’s not true. |
I think is because he is a control freak, and because he dislikes Hogan so wants to be seen to be doing something different. |
I agree. It’s really irritating, and as a resident it makes me distrust him. And he seems to be prioritizing indoor activities- what is the reason for allowing 50% capacity inside restaurants and reopening of indoor gyms, but still limiting outdoor pools to lap swimming? And why are playgrounds phase 2 (vs. pre-phase 1 for the state). |
Everyone needs to contact his office and complain. It takes about as long as it does to post here. |
Can you expand on that? You're not concerned when he emails say things like that we're still under the "stay-at-home" order when it's clear from the executive order that we're not? Even if you agree with his general policies it seems like you'd want his summaries and announcements go be accurate. I'm at a loss here. What am I not understanding about your opinion here? |
Perhaps. He might honestly not understand his own executive order. Maybe he doesn't understand the difference between the Stay-at-Home order and the group size restrictions. They were entirely different sections of the EO, but it wouldn't surprise me if he's not detail-oriented. I would have expected his staff to pick up on it though. |

I hope everyone realizes that NOTHING in Phase 3 is happening until there’s a vaccine or treatment.
It says so on Page 28 of MD’s recovery plan: https://governor.maryland.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/MD_Strong.pdf So that means MoCo will have no pools open outside of lap swimming this year, libraries won’t open until there’s a vaccine, etc. |
Not true. Pools in other parts of the state are open now. |
I’m talking about Elrich’s Phase 3 items, which include pools being open for things other than lap swimming. Anything Elrich puts in Phase 3 won’t happen until Hogan starts Phase 3. That’s not happening until there’s a vaccine or treatment. |
Open for things other than lap swim? |
