you really think he was peacefully sleeping and they bathed in and shot him? While he was asleep?
it was a no knock warrant served at 430am. I think it’s reasonable to believe people sleep at that time . I’m always asleep at that hour

They entered other rooms of the house first. He was likely sleeping when they showed up at the front door, and was awakened once they entered the house. By the time they reached his room, he was awake and standing up.

And his room was booby-trapped. And he was prohibited from posessing firearms yet he had a slew of them.

Who's more likely at fault here? The person with the booby-trapped room, illegally posessing firearms, or the police? You think the police hatched some plan to murder this guy? Why bother? Then they get stuck under many reviews and desk duty. No cop wants that.

You have ZERO evidence of any of what you’re claiming. None.

Were you there? Did you see these booby traps? Did you see the victim wake up and get out of bed? Did you see his guns? Did you see him threaten officers? Did he fire any shots?

You can’t answer any of that. All you can do is parrot what the police said.

What if your wife or kids were walking past him just before the cops got there.... what would stop him from stabbing them dead?
I’d rather he be dead than an innocent person.

He WAS an innocent person.

He wasn’t found guilty of anything before being executed.

Police officer has a right to defend himself.

Not guilty ain’t necessarily innocent.

She warned the police of the booby trap as they entered. I assume the parents weren't arrested because they werent' aware of the booby traps in their grown son's room.
so why did she get shot?

Anonymous wrote:I think that people are forgetting here that the officer did not just happen to find this guy walking in the street with a deadly weapon. He was called to the scene by somebody who recognized a danger. The policeman here does not look like he escalated anything beyond presenting his weapon which he is required to do in a deadly force situation. All looked good for a little while. The suspect backed away, officer asked him to get on the ground. He would have subsequently asked him to toss the weapon. For a reason that we may never know the suspect went from backing away to charging the officer. At that point do you really want the officer exchanging his pistol for his holstered tazer? It certainly is not the protocol. I am pretty sure MoCo police do not do pistol to taser and back exchange drills. (Maybe they do, I do not work for them)

At the end of the day, the suspect determined the outcome of this case. He had lots of opportunity to kneel down or in some way acknowledge the officer's instructions. The officer has an obligation to not let the situation escalate to putting other civilians in danger.

Look, this was a bad day. Nobody woke up in the morning and over coffee said, 'I'd like to be involved in a shooting today.' Everybody wants to return home with their loved ones at night, even the gentleman shot here. Something awful happened which precipitated this event that nobody asked for. That is sad. Prayers for all because everybody here will be impacted.

I'm not the original PP who critiqued the video, but yes I think the officer should have switched to a taser if it was at all feasible. I understand that it might feel like an awkward transition, and that officers are subject to the same split-second decision-making cognitive challenges as the rest of us. So, in short, yes I think they should practice taser exchange drills.

Sometimes, the definition of protecting the community has to include protecting people from themselves.

Police are trained to use tasers only when another cop is around armed with a gun. Tasers have high probability for failure, and the amount of clothing the guy had on could have easily made the taser fail. There's no time to attempt to taser someone who's charging at you with a knife, have it fail, then try to draw your gun after the failure. You have a split second to make a decision and to stop the charging suspect, and you're alone.

Nope. Just the press release the cops themselves wrote.

“We investigated ourselves, and determined that we committed no wrongdoing. Investigation concluded.”

Regarding the shooting, what a shame because it definitely looks like he was charging at the officer and it cost him his life. It could’ve been drugs or mental illness either way it is incredibly sad.

MCPD it’s certainly not helping themselves by not releasing the body cam footage of the incident. It is about optics. Now, it could be that they’re not releasing the footage because of a legal issue further down the line but if that is the case they should say so (if they haven’t already).

They know they screwed up, and they’re looking for a way to offer the family a settlement so they don’t have to reveal what happened

I think cops do a lot of bad stuff but if you are roaming around with a knife in your hand and then sprint like a stoned buffalo at a cop who is holding a gun and is already freaked out by what you're doing (before you stated running) you are going to get shot and shot a bunch of times. Dig?

Weird. I’d expect due process. Not an execution.
