This.

Honestly, I love staying behind and going to sleep early. It's a hotel...go to bed early with your husband. See your friends at brunch.

Nope.

Hire a babysitter to sit in the hotel room.

+1. My dc went to many dinner parties and slept through after his bedtime in a room next to the dining room. He was a fairly good sleeper, but I also think the fact that we started doing this early made him very adaptable to sleeping in strange places.

Calm down - it’s the hotel bar.

The kids are in the same building. Request a room on the second floor and it’s no different than watching tv downstairs at home while toddler sleeps in his room.

Get a clue. It’s a lot different.

There aren't dozens of people with the key to your house.

We don't even leave our dog

No, not ok. We take turns. One night I go out. Next night DH goes out. If rooms close together, we may hang out on balcony or something.

Nope nope NOPE. I understand the possibility of someone else entering your room, or a fire or other emergency that requires evacuation happens exactly as you’re in the hotel. bar and your kid is upstairs but you have to plan for those things. You cannot leave your young child alone in a room in a building you have no control over. Honest to God if I saw people sitting at a hotel bar with a baby monitor and put two and two together, I would be inclined to call the local police to do a welfare check and I am someone who would avoid calling the police in almost any circumstance. It’s absolute selfish negligence.

Also, for the record, even CONSIDERING this and feeling like you could get away with it is white privilege on full display.

OP, I’m a former CPS investigator and have investigated a case where a mom left her sleeping toddler in the room and went to her friend’s room across the hall. The toddler woke up and left the room and was found by someone else staying in the hotel wandering the hallway. They couldn’t figure out who she belonged to and she couldn’t tell them, so they called CPS. If you think it won’t happen, I’m here to tell you to think again because I’ve seen it, in the last year, in this area.

Sort, not sorry. I would 100% call the cops as this is child neglect.

One PP made a good point about the event of a fire, so I will consider that next time.

So no one else saw THIS and thought wtf??

A 12 month old?! AND a 4 year old??

All for a drink at the bar, otherwise you won't be able to see your friends after 8 pm?

4 adults, 1 or 2 sleeping toddlers. Figure it out or hire a sitter.

Though, probably a troll.
