Want a cookie? Or a quarter to call someone who cares? This thread wasn't asking YOU, dumb ass. Get your head out of your rear and try to respond to things that are relevant.

Go back to bed, you woke up on the wrong side of it.

It’s not a big deal to avoid anything for a year.

Exactly. Why not do the best you can?

I did eat Deli meat

I had a coke MAYBE once a month

I did not drink coffee ( I am not a coffee drinker anyway)

I DID NOT drink wine, beer or liquor in any amount

I did not smoke

I did not consume raw fish

pretty much, just the deli meat

I think this too

I feel like this "why not do the best you can" framing only makes sense if the recommendations are truly science-based. Personally, I'm not drinking any alcohol for that reason and I'm staying under the recommended caffeine limit. But my understanding is that eating sushi isn't going to harm the baby even if you do get food poisoning - it'll just make you uncomfortable. And I'm willing to take that risk (for low-mercury fish, of course); I wouldn't be if it was a risk to the baby.

As for deli meat, personally, I'm avoiding turkey and other things that I understand to be a high lysteria risk like queso fresco (and other unpasteurized cheeses). But my understanding is that, say, prosciutto is not really a historical source of lysteria outbreaks, whereas various greens and ice cream are. And that it's somewhat random where the next outbreak will show up. You can't actually avoid everything.

All I wanted my entire pregnancy was runny eggs. First thing in the morning, last thing at night. I ate so many runny eggs.

I lived on blue cheese and picked mustard the first trimester. No alcohol or sushi, but I had a can of diet coke daily, because I am not even human without it. Had runny eggs too.

I felt nauseous throughout my first trimester. Coffee, vegetables and meats all made my stomach turn and I survived on pizza, fruit and sports drinks. Once my nausea subsided, I had 1 -2 cups of covfefe a day (then switched to decaf) and began eating deli meat from Potbelly (since they toast their subs -- are they hot enough to be considered safe? not sure but I rolled the dice). By my third trimester I was definitely consuming more caffeine (maybe 3 cups a day, spread out) than recommended and I was eating "over medium" eggs. I had a total of one glass of champagne during pregnancy (2 or 3 tiny glasses in my 3rd tri). I wasn't really interested in alcohol. Also stayed away from sushi with raw fish and instead had some avocado rolls, which hit the spot. I'd say managing caffeine was by far the most difficult for me. Honestly, my baby arrived slightly preterm but very healthy and spent no time in the NICU. There's a strong history of preterm birth in my family so I don't think it was the extra cup of coffee but wanted to give all the info as you navigate. Good luck with your pregnancy!
