Heck, I was feeling guilty because my son applied to 7 schools, got accepted to all 7, and sat on it for a while before he withdrew his applications from the 6 he would not attend.

G-D-it, read the freaking thread people. You are all making a-holes of yourselves. This one with a humblebrag thrown in for good measure!

Why don't you tone down your anger, and perhaps summarize the thread. I don't have time to read all four pages, and if I read the article, I am entitled to share my opinion! And I don't consider being accepted to 7 schools a humble brag. Now if I go on to share that two of them were top 20, then, yes, you can accuse me of that. Have a pleasant day.

Yes, you are entitled to share your opinion.

As am I.

And my opinion is you are blathering about something you know nothing about, when that could have been solved by less time reading than you spent typing.

Are you proud of that, exactly? You can try this: "Hey you know I was wrong, sorry...". It's very powerful.

Um, I beg to differ. I read the thread. There are many opinions. Mine is that this is an overblown article. Perhaps it is because it is a minority? I don't know, but it's really not a big deal.

DP. You are really adding nothing to the discussion. Next time it would behoove you to read a bit of the thread--even the comments right before yours--that would clear up your misunderstandings about how and which schools this girl applied to.

Doubling-down on the ignorance, and replacing the humblebrag with good ol'-fashioned racism.

Niiiiiiice.

ps you obviously didn't read the thread

I did read the thread and I understand how she did not "intentionally" apply to all the schools. I still stand by my opinion that it is a waste of time and that it is nothing to write about. I would rather read about underprivileged getting admitted to elite schools...now that IS something to celebrate.

Oh please, lol. You already showed your cards--you know you'd be the first one to comment about how she didn't deserve it, and only got accpeted because she was black.

You obviously missed the one at 10:46 (which was not the only one that explained it or had a link to the common black app)

Applicants indicate their top 4 colleges from those in the program, but any of the 53 participating colleges can download your information and make you an offer of admission/scholarships. So this student wasn't actually "applying" to many of the schools where she was offered admissions and scholarships.

So, who wasted the time then?

And poster above is correct, you already outed yourself as a racist.

Not a racist at all. I would have the same opinion if the person were Asian, White, Hispanic, or any other race for that matter. Nice try though!!

Not a racist at all. I would have the same opinion if the person were Asian, White, Hispanic, or any other race for that matter. Nice try though!!

And note above I did not refer to race at all. I referred to privilege...and that can apply to any race. Why do people need to bring race into EVERYTHING. Ridiculous.

Your thoughts?

Nixon applied to about 50 schools all together, and she didn't just choose them on a whim. She specifically researched schools that are diverse and have her desired major: International Business.

Did she apply to 50 schools or not?

This article sounds quite misleading.

I do have anger issues. I get angry when ignorant idiot adults take a dump on a 17 year old kid, and when facts that contradict their stupidity are posted directly above them.

I'll own that if it makes you feel better.

Thanks PP. Yes this person seems very fixated on this for some strange reason. Sad...seems she has no life.

Exactly. Honestly, that PP doesn't sound like the sharpest tool in the shed. Not sure why she commented in the first place.

Like I said, no racist stuff going on here, but again...keep on trying!! Go ahead and call me names....doesn't bother me in the least. I am actually quite fascinated with how people have to jump on the racist wagon so quickly. That is what makes these threads so entertaining!

Yes, PPs didn't read the story, but they had an opinion already.
