Well if you're married or have a partners, that's only 100k each. And if you're not, you don't need a 2BR. In fact, if you have no kids, you don't need a 2BR. Reset your needs and desires, fam |

So you in late 1990s/pre-9/11 when they were giving away loans and prices low before the housing boom. Go away wanker. I hate it when people who bought before the bubble seem to think they managed some great investment with their real estate acumen. Now you need at least a $150k downpayment for a fixer up SFH in FFX. Your house probably cost, $300k? |
Hey moron. The bubble burst and prices plummmeted. Yeah. I lived through that too. You are just a whiner who doesn’t know how to budget. Own nit. |
And following up on my prior moron comment. The bubble didn’t burst until 2008. I bought before the bubble but I am sure details like that don’t matter to your preconceived conclusion that life it just so much harder for you. Time for a diaper change baby. |
And you can still get a townhouse in FFX for 350 easy. And that is all you can handle. You’ve never seen a lawnmower. You probably had brown people do that for you, you spoiled revolting emblem of America affluence. |
Uh, so you bought at $300k, it rose to $800k, then bubble popped and it dropped to $700k. At least I’m a moron that understands basic math. Around here, every place that wasn’t a Prince county dropped at most 10%... after almost tripling in the years prior. |
+1 and PP doesn’t need a 20% down payment either. |
OMFG. A townhouse in the middle of FFX is a TERRIBLE investment — that’s why it’s still pretty cheap. But figures, b/c you are a homeowner who was lucky but thinks he is skilled Not sure why you are bringing in race into this, and I mowed plenty of lawns with a reel mower at that. |
DH and I are core age millennials (28 and 26) and make $400k + between us and are still struggling to save a down payment in NYC/SF. Yes we eat out a lot because guess what WE WORK 7 DAYS A WEEK. Doesn’t leave a lot of time for cooking. And eating pasta every day... let’s see the results from your last physical and see how that works out for your health.
I guarantee you we are smarter/more prestigiously credentialed etc. than the smug boomers on this thread. And yet simply by virtue of having led an easier life, y’all seem so superior. |
Uh, yeah. My going on assertion was that you were lucky b/c you bought before the bubble... so we agree... ![]() |
You guys are crazy for a living where housing is that expensive. My nieces and nephews live down south, and all are buying really cute first homes. Of course they make less, but the cost of living is much lower. |
$500-1k house for a millennial. . . no wonder you all are drowning in debt. Move somewhere you can afford. Period. |
Well what careers do they have? That whole follow your passion shoe boxes some of us into major metro areas. Nurses or doctors great! Teachers portable but terrible pay. |
So which metro has good jobs and cheap housing? |
