You're gross. Making fun of someone for being infertile is like making fun of someone with cancer. |
I don’t think birth control failures are all that rare. I became pregnant with a Paraguard. And I know several people who got pregnant on minipill. |
So I am clearly in the minority by actually responding to the question, but we had a surprise with 3 others- 2 in elementary, 1 in preschool. I freaked out - would we be able to handle it all? In short, yes. Sure, we made some adjustments. Most people would not call our life calm. But our surprise rocks. She adds so much to our family. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Did I plan this? No. But it’s awesome. I hope the same for you. |
It’s a surprise alright when you don’t ovulate, your husband has no good working sperm, IVF/ICSI fails, and you’ve gone years having unprotected sex because you have no working baby-making elements. |
I will add that I am 54 years old. I started missing periods for a month or two, then having really heavy flow ones for a few months. This went on for a year.
Then... I stopped having my period for 6 months! (and had horrible hot flashes but c'est la vie) and it was wonderful. Thought I was done And then... my $(&$# period came back with a vengeance! So yes, it's possible to think you are done with your period and then have it come back. And if you have sex during that time you can get pregnant. Good luck, OP, it's exciting! And scary! So get a pregnancy test to see whether you are preggo or not! |
Our oops baby was DC3.
DH decided not to pull out (admittedly not a good form of BC) but our plan was to pull out when i'm not in my fertile window and use condoms in my fertile window. When he didn't do that I told him he probably should have and shrugged it off because i was on day 11 of my cycle and typically ovulate on day 16-18 (i tracked this meticulously for years trying to get pregnant). Low and behold I ovulated the next day (roughly) based on my betas. Way way earlier than normal. Turns out that was the start of my periods getting shorter because they are now pretty consistently 26 days instead of 31. We were always okay with the possibility of three because I'm a twin and twins run in my family. But I was terrified that DC3 would be twins. Luckily just one in there. Overall though has added a lot to our family. Aside from a bigger car, my older DDs share a room and we may add on to our house one day, but we are pretty happy we have him. I was really hard on myself at first and cried for a few days. Once I got in the zone I came through it okay but it has taken a long time to recover physically. Oldest DD was 3.5 when DS was born and I was 35 DH got snipped before my 6w checkup - best decision ever. |

Op here. I will pick up a pregnancy test this weekend. I’m terrified!
I don’t know if I’m hormonal due to pregnancy, stressed about potential pregnancy or the 3 kids I have just drove me crazy during today’s snow day. I just feel like crying. I can barely handle the three kids I have now. DH works long hours. I’m not a very good SAHM. I’m already at my limit. |
Same. We were content with our 2 (boy and girl). Found out I was pregnant when DC2 was only about 6mos old so we really were just starting to get the hang of managing 2. Right now the ages are 5, 16mos and 4mos. It is difficult being outnumbered and I feel like my house is a shit show at times. I know my limits and have continued to WOHM. I really don't think I'm capable of being a SAHM. |
