Slave labor ended generations ago in the west. Heck in this country, it wasn't slave labor that was responsible for the northern economy. |
A high fat diet without any physical activity does make you obese, lethargic and slow to process. This maybe controversial but there is some truth to it. |
What are you talking about? There was no lie anywhere. You are the liar who just didn't read the post at all or maybe you have RC issues. It was clearly stated that countries with socialist governments in the past have become corrupt. India was socialist as was China with super socialism called communism. India's corruption has nothing to do with British but to do with socialism. India's first generation of freedom fighting leaders weren't corrupt and setup great democratic institutions that still holds steady. But it was socialism that corrupted the body politic later on. |
Yes it was generations ago that Slave labor along with sudden rush of American plunder that destroyed the leading economies of that time, China and India. Slave Labor may have been over decades ago but the effect has continued with Jim crow and to this day with the GOP making it extremely difficult for minorities to vote by removing polling stations, harassing minorities about acceptable form of IDs(the ones they don't have) , cops killing unarmed blacks in routine traffic stops etc. |
It certainly was a major part of it. How stupid are you? |
They DO teach all of that, at least since the 1990s. |
US is not an empire, atleast not in the historical context. The US will continue to be alive and thriving as long as it allows HUNGRY and Ambitious immigrants into the country. That is the secret behind the US success. Europe is ageing and is no longer at the forefront of innovation along with US,China and India because they don't have the hungry youth and they aren't immigrant friendly. As China and India eventually get old, they will also find it difficult to grow at the break neck sped BECAUSE its just the human nature. Once people get comfortable the hunger and ambition dies out. So we need to keep bringing in fresh blood to keep the hunger alive. |
I am all for immigration, however you are way off base with the idea that other countries will export all their brain power to the U.S. And you know, half the country wants to build a WALL!. Europe was nowhere in my post, not was Europe an Empire, nor was I saying Europe will develop more. Europe has been done for for a while. |
Pre- civil war, the northern economy was not slave based, nor could it have been numerically. There were only around 250k African Americans living in the north out of a population of 18 million people. |

Europeans conquered most of the New World and India before the Atlantic Save Trade really got going, though I doubt they would have been able to conquer China.
India was not a nation until the 20th Century. Prior to the British imperialism, India was a collection of "princely states" that shared some cultural ties, like European states, but were not a single nation. Discussing India as if it was a nation in 1600 is anachronistic. There is no question that the British Empire benefited enormously from India. I'm not sure if the US really benefited that much from slavery. The South was economically backwards and weaker than the North, despite the slavery. It's a bit like the Middle East and oil. The easy oil makes people lazy and suppresses innovation and hurts them in the long run. It only "helps" the wealthy aristocracy who own everything. |
There is something to be said for the "protestant work ethic." |
India is catching up in part because of the legal, administrative, economic, and transportation systems the British left behind. Lucky India. Without the British, it would have remained a patchwork of scores of princely states and languages, often locked in conflict. |
The protestant work ethic WAS once real, but yes: non-Asian Americans on the whole have become soft and lazy. |
Horrible Britain, spreading law and democracy and leaving wealth and success in its wake. |
Do you really want to know? Because Africa, although blessed with tremendous resources, is and has been comparatively primitive. |
