I don't believe for one minute that Massholes care what you call them. |
| So I've never lived anywhere with snow and have only recently moved here. We do have a garage and I refused to drive in the snow today (too scared), but it never would have crossed my mind to clean off the top of the car and bumpers had my car been outside and I needed to drive it. I just assumed the fluffy snow would just softly blow into the air when I drove. I'm so glad I read this thread because the thought of it turning into a sheet of ice that could fall on a pedestrian, the car behind me or my own windshield is terrifying. Despite all the snark on here, I did learn something and will never drive a snowy car without cleaning it off. Thanks for the PSA! |

Seriously, I just got a Sno-Brum and I don’t know why I didn’t get one sooner. FWIW, I drive an SUV and have ALWAYS cleared off the top, hood, lights, etc. It easily took 15+ min to clear off my car after previous snowstorms using a brush/scraper depending on how much we got. Today I cleared off my entire car in about 5 min. I have a cover for the windshield, so didn’t need to scrap off ice and snow.
The worst offenders I saw today were not those driving an SUV, but the smaller cars. The one next to me on 495 had ice/snow covering the lights, most of the windshield, and the top not cleared off. |
Let the car run for 30 mins before you leave and it will slide right off at the first turn. |
Wow I was just coming to post the same thing. About 15 years ago I saw a sheet of ice fly off and completely crack another car’s windshield. I can’t believe people think it’s okay not to clean it all off. |
| I'm so glad I moved to Florida! Good luck people, and yes-clean off the cars. |
Don’t drive a big stupid vehicle then. If you can’t takr care of it properly you shouldn’t drive it. |
Open the door and stand on the tread. Don't be an a**. |
That's not true. Snow slabs flying off can travel hundreds of feet on the highway. Don't be an a**! |
Yay! |
x10000 Well said. And get your lazy arse a broom, open the drivers door, then push the freaking snow off the other side the roof. Close door, go around to other side, and repeat. It takes two minutes, and beast being sued when your snow/ice kills someone. Then, no big behemoth ride for you. My God, are you people really this stupid? |
Buy the specific extra long SUV cleaning brush. |

Who is responsible for clearing the tops of school buses? The driver or someone at the depot where they are parked? Anyone know? This is Loudoun Co if that matters.
I was behind two different buses this morning that hadn't been cleared at all. I had to move from both once they reached speed because the blow back was blinding. I saw 2 more caked in snow as well. I made note of the bus numbers to report them. I know I wouldn't want my kid on one of those buses with the snow slipping and sliding down as the driver was driving. |
Enjoy! When you get wiped out by a hurricane in October, we’ll send hugs. |
Not worried I don't live in a flood zone, my brand new house is built to the latest hurricane standards, and I didn't even lose power during Irma.
I did, however, sustain Thousands of dollars worth of damage during a hurricane years ago- in CT! |
