why? if it that important why do men not do the same?

Because body hair on men does not indicate a possible hormone/fertility issue.

I am super hairy, and it's not even an ethnic thing, but I have no fertility issues. In fact, I got pregnant both times on the first try, and I've never had a miscarriage. I have had my hormones tested in the past, and while my testosterone is on the high side of normal, it's still normal.

You had your testosterone tested? How’d you find a doctor to do that? Most of them are too freaked out (and ignorant) by the idea that women have testosterone at all to test it . Honestly. Ignorant.

What was it?

Guys - Dumbos- more testosterone means she has a higher sex drive.

It's well known that women have testosterone. I'm sure a graduate of a medical school would not be "shocked" by this fact.

Right, because hair removal is the same as having major surgery.

It's worse, because it's constant and not a one time thing. Try removing all your body hair for a year, and come back with how you feel about it.

Men shave their faces (well, some do) and that's a thing. Man boobs, that's another thing.

ITA.. that ^PP's statement is weird. I'm hairy, too, and I'm East Asian, got pregnant easily both times in my mid to late 30s.

I am the PP who made this statement, and here is some more information for you. I did not make this up. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/hirsutism/symptoms-causes/syc-20354935

Interesting article . The only females I know with “manly hair” ie facial hair -like a beard, but not full, have been overweight.

I’m a nurse in the OR. I see a LOT of naked women ages 25 to 70.

Observsation one: there is absolutely a cultural / “race” component to preference for removing hair vs not removing hair below the eyelashes. At all ages.

Women with mini beards and man-caliber leg and pit hair are ALWAYS obese. Not talking about a little happy trail here or lower back fuzz.

Big fluffy bushes do smell more than manicured little patches. I’m the one who administers the pre-op chlorhexadine wipe down, and I’ve done literally hundreds. Maybe a thousand at this point. Don’t even attempt to argue this point with me. I guarantee I’ve gotten up close and personal with more not-date-prepped bushes than anyone reading this unless you’re a gynecologist

I don't believe this is true, why would we have hair "down there" in the first place, if it didn't serve some purpose?

the part about protection from bacteria and other unwanted pathogens seems to prove my point

If a woman is overweight and has stomach hair, then loses weight, will the hair disappear?

You would be shocked at the number of doctors who do not want to acknowledge that women have any testosterone or to consider any issues with the levels a woman has. I’d say that 98% of US doctors are completely ignorant in this regard, basing that on being a women who asked 10 doctors about the subject and received a giant wall and nervous laughter instead. Also, in other countries (Uk, France, Australia) there are special testosterone creams for women who need it but in the US nothing has been approved. Nothing.

Gross.
But I have known several rail thin women with hair issues. They typically take care of it though (it’s rare that you see it), maybe obese women just don’t care.

What do you see with men hair wise? Start another dusgusting thread?

jesus OP. how lazy are you? get it waxed or permanently removed. I don't get women who find basic grooming and hair removal so taxing.
Anonymous
Man here, it would be a non issue for me. I don't mind a more natural look down there too, FWIW

So many nasty women on here. Why are you all body shaming OP? For the record, humans have hair and are supposed to have hair. Removing it is cosmetic. Accord g to this article in the NYT written by an ob/gyn pubic hair is not unsanitary and indeed serves a purpose.

Pubic hair serves several biological purposes. It is a physical barrier protecting the skin; it traps discharge, dirt and debris; it also traps moisture, helping the vulvar skin maintain a higher moisture content relative to skin elsewhere on your body. As each pubic hair is attached to a nerve, tugging during sex may also increase sexual stimulation. Pubic hair may also have a role in dispersal of normal odors.

FWIW, I prefer my ladies all natural.

Go f*ck a seal, if mammals aren't your thing.

Um...seals are mammals.

This might be my favorite DCUM quote ever. Seals are also prized for their fur...
