Profoundly gifted child-which school?

I have to laugh (and cry) when people say you don’t know he’s gifted. Well he’s something when he reads at age 2, memorizes a 300 page book at 3, in 5th grade work at 6, designs websites at 8 ... but no nothing different than anyone.

If this is indeed the case, then homeschool him. No school will be adequate for him. As for schools promoting an accelerated curriculum, it does not necessarily mean the work is going to be interesting or intellectually challenging.

Have you looked into Davidson Academy in Reno? It’s public and free, but they also have online classes for distant homeschoolers. IQ must be minimum of 145. They’re a great resource regardless if you use the school. They also have boarding summer camps. I’m in the same boat with my kids. We are in Fairfax. Good luck in your search.
