Venting about McLean Youth Soccer

Where in Fairfax County does this club get access to fields? Certainly not inside the beltway near McLean? Are they Annandale based?

I reffed three of their games in Baileys Crossroads.

One was a close loss to a PWSI team. In another, they wiped out what I believe is a former CCL II team.

All of their teams played attractive soccer. Couldn't match size and speed of all their opponents.

Another thing I noticed -- the field was strewn with plastic bottle caps and other trash, but between games, one of their teams did a sweep of the field and the surroundings with trash bags.

In prior years they also had access to Pine Ridge Park next to Fairfax both turf and grass. Not sure about this year. Coaches/Parents help as much as they can. In the first years when their travel teams had grass fields only the two guys that ran the club would often be lining the field, filling up holes and picking up trash prior to the games to make sure the fields were in great shape. They did the same for the rec side. (I had one in travel and another was not old enough so he did rec).

Who hires these coaches?? DD is new to travel but not new to McLean. Compared to OP our time in house league was pretty good, fun times, lots of support from our neighbor who volunteered coached and then the staff last year was awesome. But this year is the opposite of fun. She hates going to soccer practice and games.

Then travel soccer is probably not for her. Also, McLean travel coaches are overall are pretty bad lot. I've witnessed incredibly bad behavior from coaches there and heard worse things from current MYS travel parents about the coaches there.
