Why are AR15s legal?

Nearly everytging credible, including by the GAO, have concluded that the AWB had such a small impact on gun deaths that it couldn’t even be measured.

A new AWB won’t work and will never pass.

If you look at total gun deaths, it's mostly handguns. But that doesn't mean we can't handle this one scary problem by banning the AR-15.

When you look at the weapons used, you can get beyond correlation. The shootings that raise the numbers are almost exclusively the AR-15. AFAIK the VA Tech shooter was the only notable exception and that was spread out over hours.
