That's a relief. My kids have got to be in school. The disrupted schedule is making all of us crazy. They want to go back to the normal routine.

And it now looks interesting again.

Winter Weather Advisory 3-9 pm tomorrow. Early dismissal?

NWS:
There is a potential for hazardous commuting conditions for the Monday afternoon and evening commute. A light wintry mix with freezing is likely. While amounts are expected to be light, any amount of freezing rain on any untreated area roads could quickly turn them icy. This could lead to dangerous traveling conditions, multiple accidents, and extensive delays.

If commuting Monday afternoon or evening, be aware of the
POSSIBILITY of significant travel disruptions. Plan ahead by
allowing for extra travel time, and consider using public
transportation and telework options.

Maybe they’ll dismiss early? That’s a tough call because who knows who is at home, but you don’t want buses on the roads during freezing rain.

What would the option be? Close all day in anticipation? I can only imagine the complaints. If they stay open and it gets bad people will complain about that too. Hmm. ?

This could be tough! I teach in a different county than where my kids go to school. I have to pray both counties make the same decision.

Why is the NWS making this call now? How about some heads up so we could prepare for possible. I could have brought my work home Friday!!!!

Read page 5 of this thread. It’s not a new discussion. It’s changed a little but freezing rain has been a topic.

I've been following and it's been said it would be too warm for ice/snow.

I promise you, it takes A LOT to get an unscheduled early dismissal. This advisory begins at 3pm when the temperature will be hovering around the freezing mark. By that point, half of the county (all middle & high schools) have dismissed. That leaves the elementary schools. My guess is that dismissal will be on-time with a cancellation of all afternoon & evening activities. These events tend to get worse as the sun goes down.

Busses don't leave the high school's until 3:05.even later for TJ.

It’s one of nine “conditions”. It may take more considerations but decision makers, but really they would just go with Condition 4.
