How do you buy gifts for you wife if you don't know what size she wears.

My husband does not buy me gifts of clothing. Who does that? must try that shit on to make sure it flatters me (and I am a size 4/6).

I look good in everything so anything he buys usually works, he just tells the sales lady my size (10) and she picks an outfit.

That sucks that you H never buys you clothes.

He comes home at least once a month with something. I love it, I HATE shopping.

I

Wow. You look good in everything! Lucky you. I look good naked. But they frown at that at work.

How about a man that shops with his wife? When she is going for certain clothes she likes having my opinion. From time to time I end up giving my opinion to other women trying on clothes. I don't volunteer, as I am not crazy, but if I am asked I give straight forward and tactful responses.

So not related to this conversation that I should have just ignored this comment.

Do you comment, about the size they are wearing ("you'd look better in a 4, sweetie, the 6 is too big") or on the fit/aethetics ("it doesn't play up your natural assets" or "they make your ass look awesome!")

Having an opinion about something being tried on is NOT the same as knowing women's sizing. And yes, we know who gives good feedback (my DH, no, my DD, no, my other DD, yes). Hope you fall under the yes category.

This picture is ridiculously wrong.
From L-R: Size 0, size 6, size 10-12

+1 about the wrongness. As a buff guy, the woman on the right is by far the hottest. I'm not alone.

I agree with the size thing being totally off.

On looks and body type I would take 2 or 3. In a fantasy I....well, that's for another forum. LOL

Nah. As a buff guy, I'd go with the middle one every time.

Those kind of comments are reserved for my wife.

As for knowing women's sizing, I do. Years ago along with my other duties I was a buyer for a large department store and the women's department was part of my area. I can tell you that sizing in women's clothing is not exact as all women know. I can also tell you they have changed over the years. Today's size 10 could very likely have been tagged a 12 or more 30 years ago. A woman I know used to buy size 6 and is just a little heavier 20 years later and can buy a size 4.

Women who see dress size as important should stop. It isn't just about weight or the size but how you look and feel. We are a nation where obesity has become more common. Children are fatter now than they were 40 years ago by a big margin. Fitness, regardless of weight, is trending down. Diabetes in children and adults, trending up. I am overweight but I have endurance and could get out of my chair and walk 3 miles quickly and easily. My blood pressure, pulse rates and cholesterol are low. Do I look as good as I would like to naked? No. But right now if I dieted faithfully and exercised every day I could take off about half of what the charts say I should. Which I have been doing btw. There is a thing called set point and for each person that's different.

As to your husbands comment. I doubt that it's all about your weight but how would I know? If I saw correctly you stated 50lbs was close to your number? If you are average height or less that's a lot. Should you take off weight for your own health and self esteem? I believe you should. Women are overly self critical about their weight and looks to start with so if you follow that norm it has to be affecting you.

Quite often people that have lost a lot of weight talk about how their sex lives improved. Is that all because they look so much better or a combination that they look and FEEL better? I believe it's the latter.

During my dating years I dated a couple of women who were in the 5'6" 180 lb area. I definitely preferred them over the real skin and bones women. The larger women were great in bed as they had a lot more to work with. My big concern was them getting heavier over time.

Many years ago I took a solo vacation to the Caribbean and while there befriended a very chubby woman who was almost ten years older than me. I'm clueless as to how much she weighed but she could have been pushing 175-200 on a pretty tall frame. She wasn't the least bit self conscious about her weight to the point that sunbathing naked was not an issue, nor was sex for which she was incredibly capable. Self confident large women can be very attractive!

Take this woman with the same everything, subtract 50 pounds, and she'd be more attractive.

Yes, I meant for your wife, not the strangers in the changing room, obviously.
Fine, ex-buyer for a department store. You have unusual superpowers.
Sex is all about how you feel. Until you can't do the things you want to do because your body doesn't move that way any longer.
My husband never ever comments on what I wear. Once in a blue moon. And I don't shop with him. So, that wasn't me. I'm at my perfect weight.

Ok...now I see.

She was thick, but she was sexy, too. Lots of curves, big hips, big breasts, just a big, voluptuous woman. She was always self conscious, but I thought she looked fantastic.

I'd much rather be with someone who looked like Kelly Clarkson or Queen Latifah and was confident and sexy, than some bony waif who constantly worried about not eating.

Guys like curves. (Well, REAL guys do. I have no idea what metrosexual douchebags like, as I don't understand them). Look at a sportscar. It's a collection of exaggerated curves. That should tell you something about how men see objects of desire.

"Real guys" huh? The problem is in America the definition of "curvy" appears to be one big round curve, as in a ball. In the rest of the world curvy is a kin to Sofia Vegara not spherical blobs.

By the way sports cars are aerodynamic, they do not have exaggerated curves. They tend to be sleek and streamlined to reduce drag.
