Work car is a luxury sedan and never had an issue with brakes or tires. |
These aren't issues but standard wear on sports https://ls1tech.com/forums/general-maintenance-repairs/722982-z-rated-tires-only-good-15-000-miles.html |
I like the peace of mind. And yes, we like having new cars, but never having car trouble is so nice. Never buying brakes, tires, etc. or visiting a service center. New cars are safer too with latest tech, new tires, perfect brakes, new safety features. With onstar we can track the cars and there's teen driving features to set MPH limits, etc. I think leasing is bad when you get ripped off and lease something that doesn't lease well, but General Motors throws a lot of money at their leases to make the payments cheaper than they ought to be. |
Did you see my Odyssey post? In 6 years I have replaced the battery. I have never had "car trouble." I was never stranded. I got a low battery warning light. Bought one at the store and my DH installed it that evening in 5 minutes. And the safety features are only updated every 6-7 years when the car is redesigned. But whatever you tell yourself to justify the additional expense is for you to decide. Just don't try to convince us its a "deal." |
$600/month for a glorified minivan??? |
Exactly. I drive a minivan, but at least I paid a minivan price for it. |
You linked to a Camaro/Corvette forum? A BMW 528i with a gentle driver can easily go 40k on one set of tires. A 550i with AWD driven more spiritedly (which I assume is why you'd pay $17k+ more for the V8) can probably burn through a set of tires in less than 10k. |
| People are stupid and this is why car salesmanmake money |
GM does this because they have a high rate of depreciation. You are either stroll car salesman or an idiot. Probably both |
Is it a performance car or just a regular sedan? The low profile tires only last about 20,000 miles. |
| yes, you're an idiot. |
+1 And ours is only $200/month payment. |
Did you calculate the time value of money for the $57,000 up front? (I don't lease, always pay cash, but I just wondered if this was truly apples to apples). |
AP. However you look at it cars are a money suck. |
| yes. |
