This may be a silly question, but where should one enter to get to the cafeteria? I've only ever gone to the pool at Yorktown. If it wasn't obvious, I'm the preschoolers' mom who commented above. |
Not a silly question to me either! /s/ another preschool mom |

what's YT parents angle here pushing for 4th HS? to "Make Yorktown White Again" - MYWA? |
For starters, they got screwed on the bad math moving kids out of W-L next year since it's another example of APS not handling numbers correctly. |
I thought this Yorktown meeting was more about the bad Yorktown numbers; I don't think it was expressly organized for the purpose of advocating for a 4th comprehensive HS, more like its being coopted for that purpose because some of the school board is there. I'm not really sure tho. |
The two SB members are prepared to talk about all the HS capacity issues, not just the immediate boundary refinement. Yorktown graciously opened it up to the broader community, and I believe the members are expecting to take questions on all issues. If you have a strong stance on the 1,300 seats, it's a chance to convey that to these two. The harder sell, as I said upthread, is the other three board members. Nancy is set on the Ed Center. Tannia probably is if NVD is telling her that. Lander's up for re-election, people need to be hammering him on this issue.

So if the Yorktown numbers were wrong, don't you think asking questions about a 4th comprehensive HS makes sense? If there are more students, then we need more seats. And we're never going to have enough money to build all these "small" program schools. We're running up against bonding capacity and we have to make sure that we don't spend all our money on NOT ENOUGH SEATS for everyone. We're not all going to get into HB. |
Yes, this. That's what I've been told. |
Please dispense with the fiction that relative to Wakefield and W-L Yorktown has gotten screwed in any way. Just stop. |
I don't think the poster(s) above are really indicating that YT got screwed any more than anyone else. We are ALL getting screwed. Rearranging the deck chairs is not a solution. Building a 1,300 seat high school at the Kenmore site would open up the possibility that we could expand it later - with fields and everything else a comprehensive neighborhood school needs (consistent with other high schools). This would help all Arlington students - not just YT, not just Wakefield, not just W-L. (also ensure that our students would not need to go to high school in shifts) |
Plus one. Can anyone on this thread tell us how to find the meeting? |
Have you found it?
In the main door and walk back |
I went to the gym in the basement first, and that was certainly wrong. It's in a flat area with a lot of windows. |
Any updates? |
