We're hispanic and beans are a big part of our cultural food norms. I suggest using black beans (buy canned if you don't have time/know how to prepare dry, still less $ than meat) Purée a can of black beans, spoon into a heated pan with a little oil and season with salt and pepper. Cook on low med heat until its thoroughly cooked You can then let it chill and reheat it for all kinds of meals: Bean and cheese quesadillas or enchiladas Side of beans with eggs and salsa (huevos ranchero) Black bean dip (either room temp like hummus or warmed like spinach dip) Whole black beans can be used for soup and salads We also use them for homemade chipotle style bowls |

Biggest/easiest savings we have found:
Dropped cable and went with RCN for internet only. Save 100+/mo. Switched cell phone plans to google Fi. Save ~100/mo for 2 people. Cook bigger portions for dinner, and use leftovers for lunch. It's literally no extra work and it saves us up to 200/wk. |

Cut Amazon shopping or any other shopping online.
Cutting the small things other than my phone didn't help much. Once I got a roommate to help me pay my mortgage. I could see the difference in a bank account right away. Now I found a job working opposite of my DC schedule so we don't have to pay nanny or daycare. 2nd job temporarily would help a lot more than cutting out latte. |
