Is there a SUV bigger than a Chevy Suburban?

Check this one out. This might fit what you're looking for. It's not cheap, but it's not completely unreasonable either.

My wife and I have one like this, but it's a 2003. We use it for pulling our horse trailer and our boat. Ours is a commercial grade, so the interior isn't fancy, but as you can see, the ones they offer now are very plush and fancy.

A doolie won't fit in parking spaces or go through bank or fast food drive throughs. I know from experience.

What problem dare I ask?

The problem is that you get the continued escalation of vehicle sizes when consumers think they need to have the biggest car on the road in order to be safe. I think more larger vehicles on the road create more issues with traffic safety, transportation infrastructure, and pollution.

Sorry I'm 6'2 and the most comfortable vehicle I've ever owned is my Tahoe. As bad as traffic is around here and my aching bones, comfort is what I need. I got rid of my luxury car last year because I still felt like I was in a sardine can compared to the Tahoe. Has nothing to do with your reasons.

I like the one we have, it has three row seating and the back storage area is big enough for a jogger stroller without having to fold it up. But I've always sort of worried that even though it's pretty big, it still wasn't big enough to be truly safe in a crash, especially since there's already so many other SUVs out there on the road. So the adavantage you get from being in a bigger vehicle is somewhat negated if you hit another big vehicle. With our second child on the way, safety is a HUGE priority now.

I don't know anything about cars, and it's not really my hubby's thing, either. We thought a Cadillac Escalade ESV was bigger, but it turns out, it's really just a Suburban underneath. Same exact size. We looked at other SUVs from Ford, Infinit, Toyota, and they were either the same or smaller than ours.

We also looked at the Mercedes Benz vans, but I don't like the way they look. They look like something a plumber should drive, but with a nice paint job. And they don't have all wheel drive either, and we get snow here, so that's no good.

I like our Suburban, but I'd like to find something that looks similar, but was bigger and safer. That's our only criteria, really. As big as possible, and as safe as possible, since it's going to have all four of us in it sometimes.

Any recommendations?

I have questions about the bolded portions of your post, OP. Why is safety a huge priority now that you have two kids? Why do you feel you need to be safer with two kids than you were with one? Do you not really like your first, so you were willing to accept a lesser degree of safety, but you think you'll really adore your second? You had your entire family in the car when you had one kid, presumably, so why the renewed focus on safety now? Did you ever think that with two kids you'll have a spare, so conceivably you can get a little less safe? So many questions.

Sweet. I have Dodges version of this with the Cumins diesel. It's s beast. I could probably pull your house off it's foundation!

She could be a hot little diesel-mama!

You can get the 450 with a single rear, too

The fact is that there is no SUV larger than a Suburban.

We always seem to have problems folding and unfolding our joggers. It takes too long, and I've pinched my fingers a few times, which is why refuse to fold them.

I am uncomfortable with someone who has difficulty using a folding stroller operating a vehicle the size of a Suburban. Or, truth be told, the size of a bicycle.

I think OP doesn't like her first kid and maybe is planning some sort of "accident." All this concern about safety will be used to try to protect herself.

They are actually larger and heavier than a Suburban, and when you equip them with a cap over the open pick up bed, they look rather like an SUV.

Example: the Ford SuperDuty diesel or F450 pick up, with quad cab and an 8-foot bed, weighs about 7,600 lbs with a bed cap. That's almost 2,000 lbs MORE than your Suburban. It's also almost four feet longer than a Suburban, and with the 4wd package, it is quite a bit taller, too.

The pick ups don't have third row seating, but with the huge bed, you'd have cubic yards of storage space. You could definitely keep your strollers in it without folding them.

But you'd have plenty of room for car seats in back

We've never owned a pick up. We don't use the third row right now in ours, we keep it folded to make more room in back.

Do these trucks have nice interiors? Leather/heated seats, DVD player, navigation?

In Ford if you want all the appointments go with the Platinum.

I don't understand how your question is relevant. And it sounds rather dickish

She wants what she wants. What's so hard so understand about that? She can't have it unless it's something YOU approve of? Get over yourself.

I can do 750 to 900 miles in one stretch with my F150 and not feel beat up at the end of it. My back won't allow me to sit in a car for trips. After two hours the pain kicks in.

OP is already driving a Suburban. She doesn't need to upgrade to an F-450 for her back. Or for safety.
