Help a single parent find the right neighborhood and school (MD)

Yes, Rachel Carson will have what you're looking for but other elementary schools within the QO cluster wont be overly Jewish.

Avoid Silver Spring and Kemp Mill unless you are Orthodox Jewish. Definitely Rockville.

Totally disagree. Some parts of Silver Spring are very culturally jewish. Typically the closer downtown neighborhoods will have what you're looking for.

some parts of Kensington will have what you're looking for.

New Mark Commons is a very large townhome area. Lots of kids and students go to Beall ES. Great school! My daughter works there

My kids go to Beall and we like it. They have always had other Jewish students in their classes, but usually only a couple. The principal, guidance counselor, and a few teachers are Jewish. There are many kids who have parents of different religions or races, and plenty of single parents.

New Mark may get rezoned to the new elementary school opening in fall 2018, but it should be a good place too.

I think for OP to move and be thrust into having roommates would be a lot to handle.

NP.

If I were you I'd definitely go for a late model townhome. You won't need upgrades and mowing, leaves, etc. will probably be covered by your HOA.

What did you end up going with, OP?
