Not true. At the last replenishment round the UK overtook the US to become the largest donor. In absolute terms. Despite a GDP much lower, and GDP per capita significantly lower, than the US.

I wrote this. It was a lighthearted reference to the 35-hour work week. (Yes, I know it's been gutted but not eliminated altogether. Do we need to get into details?) I have nothing against the French, but the implication that highly paid Bank staff deserve everything they get because they work oh so hard got my goat.

yeah, get the best economists to wreck the most havoc in the world. the world bank and the imf should be ashamed of themselves. I've worked there as a contractor. left disgusted by these institutions and the people who work there.
