It probably wasnt a blessing from TC. But I imagine that a man who raised a daughter himself (JF) would understand the angst another man would have about placing his daughter in another man's life. Thus, he would want to try and be on the best terms possible with his stepdaughter's father. I think that's admirable.

I think it's more like his agreement that his Scientology thugs won't come after them once she's moved on.
