Lice policy

Just use the lice shampoo every 7 days for at least two weeks, or three if you're not sure. We don't comb nits and we've gotten rid of lice several times. They are inevitable in any school --not just public.

If you don't comb out the nits, you aren't going to get all the lice. The OTC shampoo doesn't even kill the live bugs half the time. Don't give bad advice.

This is terrible advice. Please don't listen to this moron (about anything other than that they are in every school).

I had a friend that did this. I ended up combing her kids once a week when they came over. She is quite pleased with herself that she got rid of them using just poison.

Nobody is getting sick from lice. Second, lower SES families get especially hurt if kids can't go to school with nits. They may not have the resources/access to info about how to get rid of lice - not paying $300 for the lice lady to visit their house. If their kid has to stay home with nits, they can't go to work or the kid might not be properly supervised. And then a kid who really needs to be in school has to miss school.

Yeah, it sucks to deal with a lice infestation but we have to get over the stigma and talk about it, to have any hope of defeating them.

You can get rid of lice completely in one evening without even buying the shampoo if you have a good lice comb and comb and comb and comb. So that's $10.00 for the comb, plus the cost of conditioner.

PP here. If the over the counter stuff doesn't work, get a prescription from your pediatrician. In my view the lice lady and nit picking fanatics are a huge SCAM.

The problem is you not combing. We don't use a service but you have to comb.

Agreed. The only reason the lice lady is necessary is if the kid has lazy parents that would rather put useless poison on their kids' head than spend an hour taking care of their child.
