She was my favorite! |
So easy to say, when it is your gender being represented ALL THE TIME- unless you are a women with no sense who doesn't mind being portrayed as flat, one dimensional character who only exist to move a male driven plot. If you are the latter I pray you don't have daughters, it is a shame you don't see what a positive influence having female driven blockbuster stories about them. |
Me, too! And I'm pretty straight. |
Same here! |
+1000 for Kate McKinnon. LOVED HER. She stole every scene. Great movie btw and my 11 year old declared it her favorite film. Ever. |
Saw it last night. Really enjoyed it! Admittedly, went in with low expectations. My only gripe would be the Patty character. Thought they could have done a little better with the 4th Ghostbuster.
HOLTZMANN FOR PRESIDENT!!! |
There's a difference between a movie being of poor quality and the theater experience sucking. We saw the latest Star Wars in a theater full of high/drunk college kids who texted endlessly. The couple below me took three selfies. It was still an awesome movie. |
I would have actually paid attention if she was my science teacher. |
If the selfie thing was pre movie, AMC promotes that in the pre show ad's. When "Purple Rain" was re-released earlier this year, I saw people recording that movie. Uh, it wasn't an unreleased cut and has been on DVD for years. As to this movie, it is up to 64 million (counting international gross) so far: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=ghostbusters2016.htm |
I am so enraged by what Leslie Jones is dealing with on twitter that I may go see it again this weekend. |
I agree, pretty despicable. She was my least favorite part of the movie though. Nothing to do with race at all, but her character was too ill matched for an otherwise well put together cast. Why couldn't she have been a scientist like the others? Or why couldn't one of the other girls be the fish out of water instead of her? It was just too distracting, thrown in, and didn't vibe well. |
Just to say - don't believe the hate hype! It was a fun film and our whole family loved it. |
Yeah, I'm planning to see it at least one more time in a theater. |
I saw it this week. I'm surprised it's getting mediocre reviews, honestly. I thought it was solid. Laughed a lot, some jumpy parts (but I'm a scaredypants). I liked it a whole lot. Honestly, I wish I hadn't gone into it with such low expectations.
I did find this, which was interesting. https://www.google.com/amp/consequenceofsound.net/2016/07/ghostbusters-online-reception-is-split-down-gender-lines/amp/?client=safari# |
The weekend estimates have this movie dropping 53% from last weekend:
