Go by yourself! I have started doing that.

I saw Paul Simon at Wolftrap last night. And maybe I am the only one who felt this way, but I was incredibly unwhelmed. He stood up there and sang the songs I wanted to hear (plus some strange stuff inspired by a Shamen in the Amazon??), but with no enthusiam or excitement or stage presence. He just sort of minimally went through the motions, and it was the most blah concert ever. Not mellow. Blah. Plus, he definately smoked one too many Js, because his voice is shot. I was so disappointed. I has been looking forward to this for months.

Coldplay is not coming to DC this tour. How is that possible?

Brand New at Meriweather! I've been a fan since their debut album and they rarely tour.

I felt that way when we saw Willie Nelson last summer. Luckily, I was really there for the opening band (Old Crow Medicine Show) but seeing Willie was a bonus. I ended up almost being embarrassed for him. He looked--and sang--like he was 1,000 years old, and he kept stopping for the audience to finish the "famous" parts of his songs. Yeah, you can do that every now and then, or once during a song, but he did it almost every time. I wanted to yell "Sing the damn song, we're here to listen to YOU!" It was just so blah.

That's sad. He sounded good on NPR promoting his new album a couple weeks ago. But he is 74 now, and no one's vocal cords get that far unscathed. Maybe he was just tired.

Especially is you "smoke yourself a J." PP who was disappointed by the concert, and DH just forwarded this to me. Paul Simon is getting ready to retire "because music no longer holds any interest for me." http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/paul-simon-retirement/story?id=40215974

Gotta say-- it showed in his performance.
