TV shows you can/want to watch with your tween?

Greys is pretty icky & stupid. Lots of dumb cringeworthy scenes. Unless it's changed lately?

Isn't that off Verizon? No USA network, no weather channel and no Clue channel. Verizon sucks - what provider do you have?

Americas got talent. Kids cooking shows such as chopped or baking challenges. The voice.

Psych is on Netflix.

Gilmore Girls - so fun. Though we are now in Season 5 and it's gotten more "racy" (at least, from a tween's perspective). Kind of weird watching those moments, but there are so many other great things about the show and it's given us lots of things to talk about.

I like some of the Netflix originals, but the sex scenes are too graphic. I didn't realize that initially and had an awkward moment of scrambling for the remote.

omg Breaking Bad??????? But the sex scenes in other shows are too graphic? Dude, Breaking Bad involves a lot of violence and inappropriate trauma for a tween -- stop showing that to your young kid!

Friday Night Lights is a great show, though it did involve high schoolers having sex. Though I have vowed that someday I will watch My So Called Life with my high school daughter (she's only in elementary school now).

+1 Dh and I stopped watching Breaking Bad because it got too graphic/violent for us! Can't imagine watching it with a tween or even teen.

I look forward to watching FNL with my kids, but probably not starting that until they are in high school.

I shudder to think of watching Breaking Bad with kids.

Loved watching FNL with my teen. Also: Felicity, The West Wing, The Office, Show Me a Hero.

Re: Grey's, is it some kind of trend among 12-13yo girls? My girl's two best friends are watching it, she says everyone is watching it. I forbid it. She is furious. Says she is the only one not allowed.

My 13 y.o. DD is saying the exact same thing, that all her friends watch it etc...and we're in Los Angeles.

You guys deserve a parenting award. Seriously, Grey's Anatomy isn't meant for 12-13 year olds.

I'm bumping this thread with a recommendation: The Pinkertons on Netflix. It's a Western, crime solving, and shows a strong female character.

Sadly, it only lasted on season. Angus Macfadyen is one of lead in a few episodes, but I suspect that his role on Turn took him off the show for a while. The other two leads are definitely likable and believable. Overall, The writing and acting is solid and entertaining to watch.

During the summer we watch American Ninja Warrior and America's Got Talent.
During the year we often watch America's Funniest Home Videos.
And The Late Show w/ SC. My 10-year old is a huge SC fan so I record that show and we sometimes watch.

Felicity, My So Called Life, FNL, Arrested Development, and Freaks and Geeks are on my must watch list with 15yr old DD. We just did Stranger Things and are currently watching Gilmore Girls. We did Parks and Rec, Wonder Years, and The Office already. I forgot how fantastic the Wonder Years was.
