Name your "Big 3"

BTW, nice try - shooting the messenger because you can't refute the message?

Still not sure you're not a sock puppet!

New poster here. So regardless of your freaked-out state, what do the comments relative to a pedophile have to do with this thread? People are posting their top 3 preferences. Don't know why anyone is throwing under the table (and not so under the table) negativity toward these preferences. Don't know what value it adds. Don't know what message you're trying to send. Just sounds like you're mean, nasty, having a bad day, or having a bad life.

New poster here, as well. I disagree. I think the pedophile on staff is a legitimate question, though I will agree the original statement in this thread could have been worded in a far more gentle and diplomatic manner. Instead of being hush hush about it (shades of the Catholic church), it would be far more constructive if Beauvoir parents who still completely support and love the school clearly stated "yes this happened, this is how it was taken care of, and this " ____" is why I still love the school". Circling the wagons and pretending it didn't happen is ridiculous and makes them appear to be living in "lala land" who care more about protecting the prestige of a school than their own children.

Can we return to the original topic, & not turn this into another Beauvoir forum?

I just read through the entire thread. I didn't see any Beauvoir parents or any other parents list it as one of their "Big 3" much less ask for anything to be hush hush or pretending it didn't happen. Has it occured to anyone that maybe the parents don't have any info to share, or whatever info is out there is being held so as not to impede the investigation. Who knows. The point is DCUM has beat the topic about the alledged pedophile at Beauvoir to death. People have posted facts, hearsay, speculation, whatever. No new info is out there for public consumption.

I don't see why these parents have to acknowledge "yes this happened and these are the reasons I still love the school". For whose benefit? Is this some sort of intervention? If you're interested in the school do your own research and determine if it's the right place for you and your family. If you're not interested in the school move on. In either case, why are you depending on current parents to tell you why they still support their school.

Lastly, I'll just ask do you know with 100% certainty that there isn't a pedophile at your child's school? You don't know what you don't know. Unfortunate that situations like this will happen at schools all across this country. But I'm willing to bet that because of the situation at Beauvoir, St. Columba's, Browne Academy, BCNS and any other school that has experienced a similar challenge, going forward they are on top of it like nobody's business. We learn from mistakes, not from being perfect or expecting others to be perfect.

I agree. I know a few Beauvoir "haters" who actually applied to Beauvoir and were rejected (at least once) in the past year or two! We all appied at the same time and I know they were rejected b/c they told me so. Now they have this sort of war against the school. I am not at the school but I have friends that are and I amazed whenever the subject of the school comes up these women have such contempt for the school (even before the pedophile scandal). I was rejected as well but don't feel that same animosity. I don't get it.

We are in NOVA and I know that it is not mentioned much here, but I think Westminster is an incredible school. I have seen nothing like it in terms of quality of education and especially civility.

I also think that Madeira is a great school for girls. So, despite the fact that they are as different as night and day, for me it is Westminster and Madeira. Sadly, I can not think of a third in this area that I think that highly of.
I am sure the city schools are lovely, but I am not big on long commutes for children until the very upper years of high school -- a quality of life thing, IMO.

The Big 3 = the three schools that best suit your child. Period.

While I agree with the suggestions of not necessarily using the "Big 3" terminology, I think most posters here are suggesting the Big 3s best suited for their kids. And some of the suggestions may spur others reading the thread to ask why they suggested those. The suggestions may spur readers to consider other schools for their kids. The thread's title is "name your 'Big 3' " - not "name THE 'Big 3' ".

9:22 I think many posters are interpreting the OP, which reads:

Ok, so I couldn't help myself, SOOO inspired by the "Why do people dis-like the Big 3". It'd be interesting to see what the "Big 3" means to you..Where did you apply, did you get in? Let's lighten up & have fun with this one.

I'm 8:48 ... I think the OP is actually be several questions, including what the Big 3 mean to me, which could be literally, the top 3, by reputation or my personal top 3. I was trying to get the thread back in the direction of personal Top 3. Ironically, I only have a top 2, two schools that I think are great matches for my child. He's attending one of them.

Right, what the "Big 3" means to you, not what is the Big 3.
