What is your source for that? Where do they live? |
Why is that an issue anyways? I work in DC but my quality of life would drop substantially if I moved there because it is more expensive. |
My source for that is the many MCPS teachers I know who don't live in Montgomery County. Why does it matter? Well, I think it's good for everybody when teachers can live in the communities they work in -- as the top PP says. |
Why is it good for "everybody" to have teachers who live in the county? Are the teachers you know who live outside of the county a representative sample? How many of them choose to live outside of the county for non-economic issues (access to better schools, etc) I don't see why somebody who makes a $46,000 starting salary can't afford to live in a $1500 per month apartment like anyone else - and plenty of those are available in the county. Like another poster noted, many of the married teachers have a spouse who also generate income. |
People live in Frederick and Carroll Counties, instead of in Montgomery County, because the schools are better? I haven't heard that before. |
40% on rent is a bit much don't you think? |
They are not white, but bright so it will do.... |
| We know quite a few teachers who live in Montgomery County and I am talking many in the W school districts including Churchill and Wootten. Yes, most of them are two income households but so are lots of people including my family. We also personally know two income teacher households who make close to $200,000 a year as veteran teachers in MCPS. It's a personal choice for many people. Believe it or not, everyone does not wants to live in Montgomery County. |
We don't all come out of the womb being bright.
