He's a physician.

what type of physician makes $500K the year he completes a 3 year residency?
I call bull shit on this one.

He graduated very early and did longer than a 3 year residency.

Why would I lie? More importantly, why are you so angry?

Sorry but I agree and call BS. My father is a very very successful surgeon and did not make anywhere near that when he was 30 even if he had graduated early (which he didn't).

What specialty? Only surgeons who touch that cash are ortho/neuro/ent/Peds/spine surgeons. Most plastics don't.

ER/anesth/rads/Derm/GI/cards can all touch that. Graduate med school at 24/25, you could make 500 in ER (3 years), Derm (4 years), anesthesia (4 years), GI (6 years, if graduated 23 yo from med).

In other words, "my parents are docs" doesn't cut it. You guys obviously don't know the medical market.

PP could very well be telling the truth. I'm a 33 yo MD who makes 600k per year in one of the above surgical or medical fields. I do this with 15 weeks off per year and 40 hours on average a week.

NP here. DH is a surgeon. He graduated 1 year early and went straight through, graduated college at 21, med school at 25, finished his surgical residency at 30 and fellowship at 31. He is now 35 and made $600k last year. He and his orthopod friends all make $500k+. DH was the youngest though at age 31. Several of his colleagues did get offers $500k+ right out of fellowship. DH only got a base of $300k. It takes at least a year to build up a practice, second year is breakeven and then by third year, you are earning.

If the 29yo doctor graduated high school early, has a late birthday and graduated college in 3 years, I do think it is possible for her DH to earn $500k. Don't know anyone who completed med school in less than 4 years though.

But your DH doesn't refer to himself as a physician does he? He's a surgeon. OP said her DH is a physician.

Good one....I know a few surgeons and all say "surgeon" not physician.

I don't like calling someone a liar but in this case, the original poster stating her husband makes $500K is probably lying or her husband lied to her.

PP here. My husband does refer to himself as a physician. I just asked my husband and he said it is possible for a 29 yo surgeon to earn 500k. DH said the guy could have graduated high school early like he did and went to a 6 year undergrad/med program. That way, he could have graduated med school at 23, do a 5 year surgical residency.

DH also said people on DCUM sound really mean and asked why I go on this website. lol

I hope you told him that truth? That you go here to brag

All surgeons are physicians. Not all physicians are surgeons.

You really have no clue about medicine, do you?

+1
I work in a hospital. This terminology is correct.

She is a beautiful and smart cookie who got an engineering degree from an Ivy league, started out at a name brand shop as a "Consultant" ($72k), promoted to "Senior Consultant" ($85k), then "Associate". I think there was definitely an element of "right place at the right time" in regards to contracts she was working on and higher-ups it exposed her to.
