SUVs: What are alternatives to Acura MDX (trying to avoid a "chick car")

Why do you care what others think? Buy the car that you want...not the car that makes you look masculine.

In my neighborhood, there 40-50 yo males (myself included), have all gone about replacing there SUV/Sedans/Minivans with sporty cars. Some went for cars that look fast and sound good. Me? I went for the small hatch with the 250 HP turbo engine. It is fast.

Because humans are social animals and we care what others think as a basic social instinct. As people get older, they become more set in their ways and regress in their social capabilities. They start caring less and less about what others think of them. This is why old people have a hard-to-get-along image.

Focus ST? Whatever floats your boat man. For me it is a European 4 door with 400+HP engine that is fast and indeed sounds awesome. You should autocross yours.

Actually, GTI...much nicer and more refined than an ST...

OP, I have a 2013 highlander limited with all the bells and whistles. It does feel more luxury than the base model highlanders. What I also love about it is that I get significantly better gas mileage than the MDX and it takes regular gas. Paying for the premium gas adds up over time and it is an expense I personally didn't want.

The Pilot felt cheap. Even with the highest trim, it did not feel as nice as the highlander.

The 2014-2015 Highlander Limited models lots of bells and whistles at a much lower price than a MDX.

My favorite SUV on the road way beyond this educator's price point.

We got rid of our Q7 and got the 2015 Outback, so much happier. It just fits us better.

LOL, yea okay. You can talk down on the ST all you want. At the end of the day, you are still peers in that same class of vehicles. Enjoy!
