Walter Johnson vs. Sherwood

Grown-ups acting like children...

OP - 15:25 has a good point. You should also look at QO which, IMHO, between WJ and Sherwood in many ways.

Have you seen some of the homes in Luxmanor? If the WJ parents who live there can afford to live there, they most certainly can afford to live in Bethesda "proper"-and I am certain that area is full of even more snottier snobs on that "side of the tracks"!

You are ridiculous! There are tons of homes in the Whitman Cluster for 1-1.5 million right now-there are also tons of similar homes in the Walter Johnson cluster for the same price. There are several in the 600-700 thousand dollar range in Churchill-you need to come out from under your Bannockburn rock and realize that people are "living large" in other parts of Bethesda and all of Maryland for that matter!

Fwiw, we have million dollar homes in Olney and Brookeville...and essentially no apartments or condos.

Have you seen a ton of those shoeboxes being torn down and a 1.4 million McMansion being put in it's place?

BCC is not a "fancypants" school either, but many of the homes in that cluster are far superior than the crap-plastic mansions in Whitman or Churchill! Much more "old" money in Chevy Chase-and much more class.

Now that's the vocabulary to use if you want to demonstrate your superiority.

Hey, I'm not trying to demonstrate superiority, pp. I left the rat race to move out to the edge of civilization (or whatever a pp called it). I'm merely pointing out that the WJ posters seem to have a chip on their shoulders...and I haven't noticed parents from the better W schools acting like that.

You: Walter Johnson is a pathetic moth-eaten jumped-up nowhere that doesn't even belong on the same planet as Whitman, Wootton, and Churchill.
Walter Johnson parents: That's ridiculous.
You: Walter Johnson parents have such a chip on their shoulders!

not the first PP - but in the Olney area

So yes! good for us!

We are not in a million dollar home, but I'm only too glad to be surrounded by homes that keep property values up and ensure that our schools are solid.

Maybe it sounds snotty, but I'd rather send my kids to schools where safety is number 1 and parents are active.

currently working in a low-performing HS where fights are more the norm than not
NO THANKS!

Shorter Olney PP: I've got mine.

WJ parent:

-people move to Olney because they hate brown people.
-Olney is on the edge of civilization and the people are boring.
-WJ is awesome because it's a W school and there are million dollar homes in the area (well, there's at least one neighborhood with million dollar homes that's been referenced).
-you are a moron if you leave WJ for Sherwood.

How about this:

WJ poster stays in her area and Sherwood poster stays in her area. Both are obviously happy with their choices.

Well, private schools are $20k per year. And many of us have a handful of kids. And not everyone has a rich husband or parents with tons of cash.

PS - Sherwood is sorta like private school without uniforms (or the $80k+ price tag for four years).

PPS - many people move out here precisely so they can send their kids to public school without worrying about them.
