| I'm confused. Why are some people at the Palm eating free? |
Free birthday lobster |
Takers. |
Anybody eating at the Palm is a taker. Makers open their own restaurants. |
There's no kiss icon, but I am giving you one. |
this made me tear up... voucher parent here. |

Hey, smug potlucker: no kisses for me for your nastiness about Palm diners. And I know some neighborhood potlucks are awesome. Others are crowded and all the food is pre-packaged so as to comply with governmental guidelines. And our neighborhood potluck? Every now and then someone gets shot there. No thanks. When you choose to move somewhere where the potlucks are a little less warm and fuzzy, then you can judge those who choose a restaurant. Everyone has different circumstances and most parents are just doing the best they can for their kids. Signed, Mom of a financial aid recipient at a private school |

I'm confused. I've been to the Palm for lunch and don't recognize these posts. Vouchers? Free meals? Public schools?
Can someone orient me? |
I'm not getting the jump from the Palm to private school tuition. |
| The once quaint neighborhood potluck has been corrupted. It now costs more than the Palm, but is subsidized by everyone in the neighborhood whether they attend or not. The main purpose is now to support the lavish perks of the chefs who can't be fired based on performance and are allowed to retire at near full pay at a young age. |
| Several years ago DC made the mistake of bringing in someone who actually cared about the quality of the potlucks and tried to make the chefs accountable. The chefs drove her out quickly, California I think. |
Precisely. |
| Maybe we need to charter some restaurants and give vouchers to others unless and until the chefs' union gets their act together and improves those potlucks |
| The problem with the analogy is that the public schools are funded by everyone's propert taxes, not contributions of the parents - as in a pot luck. |
