Do you have a Costco membership and is it active? You can't just buy gas at Costco if you don't belong.

I have an executive membership and am otherwise intelligent. But have failed at least 3 times to get gas from a Costco pump (after making reasonable attempts).

Were you trying to buy gas using a card other than a debit or Amex card? They don't take anything else at the pumps.

Did you ask for help?

I've never seen a gas attendant at Costco.

On our block we have 6 families sharing a Costco card.

16:05, you can always ask others for help. Usually they are friendly! Once I asked a fellow customer for help getting off my gas cap when I had post partum tendinitis. So I would still like to know if this person asked for help! Or what exactly the problem was.

Family of 4 and we have been costco members for years now. What do we buy from Costco? Almost everything that we need, we check at Costco first.

We buy toiletries, laundry stuff, cleaning supplies, gifts, pillows, towels, shelving, flooring, snack-packs, birthday cakes, medicines and supplements, canned goods, olive oil, organic chicken, frozen food, sandwich platters, potting soil, furniture, car-rental, prescription eye glasses, passport photo, snacks, appetizers, entrees for parties, (we entertain a LOT), wine, gas.

Thanks for the laugh. Love to get the BJ coupons in the mail. Unfortunately my wife does not honor competitor's coupons.

Yes, DH strongly prefers BJ's to Costco as well.

Me: "Honey, we need to go to Costco's for paper towels"

Him: "Honey, honestly? I really prefer BJ's"

See?

To the PP who had trouble buying gas from Costco. Me too. And then I remembered that I had to use a debit card. Doh! I am reasonably intelligent too
